2019 GRADE B-C MOVIES

ANGEL HAS FALLEN – Fun but…

I haven’t seen a movie in a while. I’ve been so busy with my normal day-to-day activities that I just didn’t get the chance to see any movies. Plus, there really wasn’t anything I wanted to see.

But finally, Angel Has Fallen, premiered, and I rushed to the theaters, a week after the premiere – haha.

Unfortunately, the movie just didn’t deliver like it’s predecessors. The 1st Act dragged, and by the time we got to the 3rd Act, I really wasn’t sure of certain character motivations. Was the villain all about the money, power, as it a democrat versus republican thing?

As for the action scenes. Some of it was good, some of it was confusing. There were times where fight scenes were too confusing to decipher who was winning. And at times, it felt as though scenes were made to mimic John Wick’s “gun-fu” style of fighting.

The original screenwriters of the previous two movies were off the payroll here. They only received “story by” credits, so how much input they had on the story is really up in the air. The director, Ric Roman Waugh, who is more of a stunt coordinator than a director, doesn’t understand how to tell a story with pictures.

The movie isn’t entirely bad, but it’s not as good as the first two. I would see it on $6 Tuesdays or wait for it to hit Netflix. The movie is a solid average movie.

The action, despite it being confusing is good. And the movie is not boring. It’s entertaining. But it does leave you scratching your head – saying, “huh?” at the end.

I go by either "Steven" or "Steve" it really doesn't matter. I'm not a professional screenwriter anymore, so there's no need to suck up to me and send me your latest script. I have zero ambition to work in the entertainment industry. I'm now just a regular guy who knows a bit about storytelling, wants to share that knowledge to inspire new writers, and to share my work with everyone!
