If directors tossed their agendas, millions of dedicated fans wouldn’t be screaming at Disney, for destroying the Star Wars franchise. If journalists didn’t distort the truth, Americans wouldn’t have to question – the news. If documentaries made an effort to tell the whole story, instead of trying to recruit your loyalty, then maybe, the world would be less paranoid.
There is no doubt that professional storytellers are epidemically – allergic to objectivity. Whether it’s because they don’t know any better, or whether it’s intentional, the result is the same, as audiences are force-fed subjective nonsense.
Is change on the horizon?
Well, with a plethora of over-sensitive graduates who seem to love to get angry, who make it a habit to scream, “RACIST!” in a crowded country, and who are offended by pronouns, the future doesn’t look too bright.
My hope –
To educate a new generation of non-conformist storytellers who will swim against the tide of unhealthy paranoia.
Introducing, my pro-active solution, “The Maverick Storytelling Method.” My 100% free course that will supply YOU, with a solid foundation to unleash the natural storyteller lying dormant – deep within.
WHO IS THE MAVERICK STORYTELLING METHOD FOR?
To be completely honest, it’s for everyone, in my opinion, even if you’re not a writer. Storytelling is the primary way we communicate. Animals don’t tell stories, as far as I know. Even if you’re not an aspiring author, you’re still going to tell a story. Why not tell that story with a little more gusto and a lot more accuracy.
But those who will benefit greatly from my methodology would be anyone who seriously wants to improve their skill as a storyteller, primarily a future novelist, journalist, or screenwriter.
On a personal note, I’ve used these specific skill sets to do everything from grant writing to screenwriting, to learning photography, picking stocks, and running my wedding company, Dream Weddings Hawaii. I’m even using the Maverick Storytelling Method, to write the Maverick Storytelling Method – haha
HOW IS YOUR METHOD DIFFERENT THAN OTHER’S OUT THERE?
Well, to start, it’s 100% free. Yup, no charge. And it can all be found on this site. I will keep writing articles to fill in the curriculum gaps as I go. Maybe one day I’ll publish into an e-book and sell it. But as of now, it’s all here, on this site, for free.
Secondly, I believe it is the only storytelling method that is based around the study of personality. If you are going to write a
Let’s make this clear. You can’t write Star Wars if you don’t understand the characters.
WHAT EXACTLY WILL I LEARN?
If you choose to be a Maverick Storyteller, you must learn and master the following three skills:
- AN IN-DEPTH STUDY OF PERSONALITY, UTILIZING THE ENNEAGRAM – The Enneagram is a relatively easy to understand theory that explains human behavior accurately. It categorizes human personalities into nine groups: the Reformer, Helper, Achiever, Individualist, Intellect, Loyalist, Enthusiast, Challenger, and Peacekeeper. It will definitely take some time to understand the Enneagram, so don’t rush it. But once you can memorize the basic characteristics of each personality type, you will be able to not only create interesting three-dimensional characters on the
fly, but have the uncanny ability to read and analyze real-life personas, including yourself. If you master the Enneagram, I promise, it will help you create characters that are so real, your characters will write your story for you. - HONEST SELF-EVALUATION OF YOUR OWN PERSONALITY – Using the Enneagram, you will identify your own personality type. Realizing your fears, your triggers, and especially your loyalties, will lessen the likelihood of self-projecting your character and agenda into your work and onto others, which is the currently – the cardinal sin for the professional storytellers.
- BASIC STORY STRUCTURE – Understanding the basics of the 3-Act structure (beginning, middle, and end) and how it relates to the Enneagram, will give you a solid foundation to tell your story. Believe it or not, even though the 3-Act structure is primarily used for feature-length movies, it’s principals can be applied to novels, music, poetry, journalism, and much more. There are many variations of story structure, but this is where it all begins.
As I mentioned before, I will keep expanding my curriculum with more articles as they pop into my head or through reader recommendations. There are, of course, so many more skills to learn and master than I listed, but this is where it all begins. Don’t skip ahead.
