I SAW THIS IN THE THEATERS!
I haven’t seen many movies in the theaters since this pandemic started, and let me tell you, it was just a breath of fresh air to experience a big screen and overpriced soda, once again. If you’re wondering how much I paid for my small soda, it was $7.50! And my freaking movie ticket cost $18.50! I guess the price of the ticket covered the cost of my social distance seat. Maybe, my seats were also marked up “a little,” because I did choose to watch this movie in the TITAN LUX with DOLBY ATMOS surround sound.
By the way, it’s almost 50% useless to watch this movie in DOLBY ATMOS surround sound because it feels like half of it happened in complete silence. This brings me to another point. Does the hearing impaired still have to pay the same price as us because they are not getting the full experience? Or do they have to pay more to get the subtitled version?
Hmmm…..
So, how was this movie? It was good, not perfect, but rarely are movies perfect.
It was suspenseful and exciting, at some points a bit slow, and a bit frustrating – boy those comments aren’t very helpful are they. It was a good movie up till the end. Let’s just say that.
I had a few problems with it. Number one, was the fact that we still didn’t learn much more about these aliens/monsters. Why did they come to earth? What did they eat? What was their motivation, or did they even have one? Number two, I had an issue with the heroes’ decisions in the 3rd Act. Without trying to spoil it, just imagine you were in possession of an organ that would save someone’s life. You get it to the hospital in time, but instead of transplanting that organ, the surgeon says, “I’ll get to it the first thing in the morning.” That’s what happens….and it’s just stupid.
That doesn’t make it a bad movie. It just makes it frustrating.
Should you see this movie in the theater? Hmm. It’s the first good high-concept movie to grace the screens, so I would say yes. But, just to let you know, it is coming out on HBO Max soon.
